New Teen Vogue Book.

Today I picked up the new Teen Vogue book: The Teen Vogue Handbook, An Insider's Guide to Careers in Fashion. There's interesting sections on becoming a designer, an editor, a stylist, a model, a make-up artist, a fashion photographer, and general tips on breaking into the industry. There's also some pages on suggested schools and majors. I would say, if you're even remotely interested in any of these careers, that it's worth the buy. People today, especially celebrities, are convinced that to become part of the fashion industry is a fun and easy thing. For example, once actresses gain status they are often convinced that they are qualified to design clothes. The reality is that the names we know and love were originated by people who devoted their lives to their jobs. I haven't read the entire book, only the photography section. Each section is divided into the success stories of different people. The photography chapter is about Patrick Demarchelier, his son Victor, Frederike Helurig, Bruce Weber, Mario Testino, Arthur Elgort, Lucy Lee, Shana Heath, Lina Kutsovskaya, and list of "up and comers".

I plan on reading the rest eventually.
